Today’s challenge at thebarefootmama.com’s Feminine Friday is:

“How do you do feminine pants?

It’s as simple as that!  Post a photo or photos of yourself in an outfit wearing pants, or explain what styles of pants you find flattering, or even just talk about the occasional pair of comfy Old Navy drawstring pajama pants that you sometimes find yourself lounging in a bit too long.  We all have some equivalent, right? ;o)”

For me, I have switched to mostly skirts because my hubby particularly likes them and they make me stand/act more like a lady; however, I really like culottes.  They were a lifesaver for me after my daughter was born and nothing was fitting right and I wanted to feel pretty and yet hide the leftover baby bulge.  I found three pairs at Target that I loved and wore them most of the summer!  They are flowy (I know that isn’t really a word but you get the idea) and pretty and feminine.  What about you?

Mason Jar Monday August 10, 2008

I would like to begin Weeping Cherries’ very first Mason Jar Monday with a use that is very near and dear to my heart. THE SPOON JAR. I would like to extend a plea to all you lovely ladies- Let’s bring back the spoon jar!

I grew up with a spoon jar on the kitchen table and it is a tradition that I was excited to continue on. I need a new connector cord to upload pictures from my camera to the computer, so I was searching online for pictures of a spoon jar that I could post for you and I realized something tragic. It appears that no one knows about spoon jars! After searching and searching, I finally came across a blog that renewed my hope. Di blogs on her website, “Stampin’ With Di“,

“As we were in the kitchen, I opened up a cupboard and I saw “it” and my heart went pitter pat. I said “I want the spoon jar, and the spoons that are in it” now to some this would seem silly, I mean who uses a spoon jar anymore. But this gave me such good memories of eating cereal, soup, ice-cream, and hearing the spoon jingle against the jar as you took it out, it is a special memory to me and I wanted it. I have the spoon that was Granny’s favorite, she always used it.”

Granny’s Spoon Jar posted by Stampin’ With Di

A Spoon Jar creates memories. I have amazing memories of the Spoon Jar growing up and I hope to create memories for Aralyn of the Spoon Jar in our home. On our table sits a large glass jar, which my Mother-in-law found for me, filled with spoons! Teaspoons, Tablespoons, Iced Tea Spoons, and Dessert Spoons… mine face down because I am a freak about germs and people touching the part my mouth touches, but other than that much like Di’s Spoon Jar.

Side Note: Kudos to my Mother-in-law for finding me five awesome mason jars this weekend at a garage sale :)

Here is your Mason Jar Monday Assignment #1: Take a large Mason Jar. Decorate it or leave it plain, whatever you chose, and make your own family Spoon Jar. Take Pics, Blog about it and leave your link here. Together, we can bring back the Spoon Jar and make great memories for generations to come!

Feminine Friday August 8, 2008

Welcome to the first Feminine Friday, hosted by thebarefootmama.com! Today’s challenge was to:

Share something that defines femininity or makes you feel feminine in the world around you – nothing on you or in your house. With only those restrictions, the rest is up to you! Photos are welcome but not required, and you can always post your regular “Feminine Friday” ideas or shares (how can I resist sharing a dress? :o ) in addition to this challenge or in place of it if you’d like.

Aralyn and I like to take flower walks. There is a large field near our townhouse and along the edges of the field are tons of blue, white and purple wildflowers. We pick bunches of our favorites along with a few dandelions and clovers for Ara’s flower arrangement which sits on her little table on the porch.

The wildflowers make a slightly bigger arrangement for the kitchen table. To me, there is nothing more simple and feminine than a wildflower walk. What about you?

Today I am putting a roast in the slow cooker with some carrots potatoes and garlic water. Paul particularly loves it when I make roast in the slow cooker and since tonight is church, having a crock pot meal simplifies things.

What about you? What’s cookin’ in your kitchen? Post it in your blog or post your favorite recipe and leave the link here!

These are by no means the only deals happening at Walgreen’s this week but the ones I wrote up on my shopping list to take advantage of. Happy Shopping!

For the Kellogs overage deal- you must shop on August 5th or later to take advantage of the Kellogs 10.00 rebate by mail.

First Transaction:

6 packages of PopTarts (the only breakfast Paul will take to work with him)

4 packages of Rice Krispies Treats (to bring for desserts at small group for the next month)

Total= 20.00 minus $5 off in Manufacturer’s coupons from this Sunday’s insert= 15.00 minus 3.00 I have in rollover bucks= 12.00 minus the 3.00 off coupon for our new Walgreen’s store= 9.00 out of pocket. This will also give me 10.00 in rollover bucks :) making the transaction have 1.00 overage. THEN send in the 10 UPC codes with the Kellogs rebate form in this Sunday’s insert for 10.00 more overage. That is a total of 11.00 overage!!!

Second Transaction:

Dawn Dish Detergent 11 or 12.6 oz Use Walgreen’s coupon for .99 cents plus Manufacturer’s coupon for .50 cents. TOTAL: .49

Glade Scented Oil Candle Approx. 4.99 Use Manufacturer’s coupon for 2.00 plus easy saver rebate of 2.00. TOTAL: .99

2 Glade Scented Oil Refills 1.99 Use BOGO Manufacturer’s coupon to make the total 2/1.99 plus easy saver rebate of 1.00. TOTAL: 2/.99

2 Carmex Strawberry Tubes 1.49 Use BOGO Walgreen’s coupon. TOTAL: 2/1.49

AngelSoft 4 pack Walgreen’s coupon for .99 TOTAL: .99

Energizer Batteries 4 pack AA. 2.99 Walgreen’s coupon minus 1.00 off Manufacturer’s coupon. TOTAL: 1.99

2 Packs Papermate Pens. .09 cent Walgreen’s coupon. TOTAL: .18

My register total should be about 10.12 so I will use my 10.00 rollover bucks from the first transaction to pay .12 cents and get 3.00 in rebates on the second transaction for 2.88 cent total overage.

Second Kelloggs scenario option in case the 10.00 rollover won’t work for the above scenario posted in the comments.
